Dear Parents,

Please be reminded that

your child EL composition

exam is on Monday 26 October.

Please encourage your child

to memorise certain phrases

in the phrasal booklet for the

coming exam. It is the one

that they have been studying

for their fortnightly dictations.

TIPS FOR ESSAY WRITING

1) They are to start the compo

in an interesting manner

like an expression or a

sound. They are strongly

discouraged to use one day,

last month or any of those

very common starters.

2) They are also to read through

their essays after they have

written to check for grammar,

spelling or punctuation

errors. This will greatly

reduce the penalisation

of marks in their write-ups.

3) They are also to write at

least 120 words and above.

They are not to end the story

abruptly as this will greatly

bring down their content

marks.

I hope these tips will

help your child in the

exam next Monday.
